Philosophy and Religious Affiliation
Open Door Nursery School is a part of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church’s ministry to children. We do not offer religion in our curriculum, but children will be exposed to prayer, in the form of grace, at snack time. All holidays will be discussed, with Christian holidays being celebrated. A Christmas program is held prior to Christmas vacation. Open Door Nursery School seeks to provide an atmosphere that is responsive to the development of the whole child and is committed to his/her physical, intellectual, social and emotional well-being. Open Door has a play-based curriculum which fosters the emotional, social, physical and intellectual development of our students. Our goal is to encourage each child to be self confident, independent and critical thinkers. We offer specials classes weekly. A music teacher visits with each class once a week, we have yoga each month, and a Spanish teacher meets with the four year-old classes weekly. In addition, monthly enrichment activities/programs are presented to the children; Turtle Back Zoo, the Arboretum, Fire Department, and Science Tellers, just to name a few! |
